Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team at Summit Health Inc. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing high-quality mammography exams and providing exceptional patient care.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
- Follow physicians' orders precisely and adhere to regulations concerning radiation safety to protect patients, colleagues, and yourself from unnecessary exposure.
- Verify patient identification and route studies to the PACS system.
- Maintain a daily log of patients seen and ensure accurate documentation.
- Operate equipment to produce high-quality images and optimize patient comfort.
- Obtain essential information from patients, medical records, and previous scans for clinical correlation.
- Prepare and assist patients for mammographic imaging as requested by physicians.
- Provide patient care with dignity and respect, educating patients about procedures and protocols.
- Obtain optimum quality images through proper anatomical positioning and other required techniques in accordance with radiologist-designed protocols.
- Follow safety procedures, including radiation protection and universal precautions.
- Perform daily checks and weekly QA to ensure equipment functionality and accuracy.
- Complete documentation for quality assurance and report deficiencies to proper personnel.
- Carry out quality control checks on equipment and report issues to ensure optimal performance.
- Work independently and demonstrate flexibility in work assignments.
- Demonstrate commitment to total quality management and service excellence by acting in accordance with the organizational mission.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in technology and safety protocols for self, patients, and visitors.
- Process studies onto CD or film format for patient requests while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and working area.
- Maintain familiarity with emergency drugs and equipment locations.
- Maintain knowledge of departmental systems, including booking, scheduling, duplication, and PACS.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through training and continuing education requirements.
- Develop expertise in human anatomy, cross-section anatomy, proper positioning, and protocol utilization.
- Stay current with routine procedures and applications.
- Adhere to regulatory standards, including MQSA and ACR.
- Meet continuing education credits and professional licenses required by the Connecticut State Department of Health and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Promote and follow company policies, rules, and regulations.
- Perform related duties as necessary or assigned.
- Connecticut State License and ARRT Certification with Mammography modality.
- Maintain superior diagnostic imaging in accordance with standardized procedures.
- Excellent patient and people skills.
- Ability to maintain a great knowledge in human anatomy and cross-section anatomy, proper positioning skills, and appropriate utilization of protocols and scanning techniques.
- High knowledge with variety of routine procedures and applications.
- Ability to maintain continuing education credits and professional licenses required by the Connecticut State Department of Health, Bureau of Environmental Protection, and The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
