Registered Nurse

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the 5 South Surgical Trauma Specialty Unit. As a Registered Nurse, you will provide individualized, high-quality nursing care to patients of all ages, utilizing a team approach to delegate and coordinate patient care at admission, transfer, and discharge.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, plan, and implement nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.
- Practice safe patient handling techniques.
- Continues to evaluate assigned patients and provides ongoing treatment.
- Anticipates, identifies, and responds to educational and emotional needs of patients and families.
- Guides and directs healthcare personnel in caring for patients.
- Maintains knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use.
- Utilizes safeguards to maximize patient safety.
- Initiates emergency support measures as needed.
- Possession of a current or compact state licensure as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certified within six (6) weeks of hire.
The 5 South Surgical Trauma Specialty Unit is a 40-bed, fast-paced med/surg unit caring for acutely ill adults specializing in urology, nephrology, trauma, and colorectal surgery and general body systems. Our many specialties and diverse patient population will provide daily challenges and vast opportunities to develop a wide breadth of nursing knowledge and hone the valuable nursing skills so important in nursing development in future applications across all specialties.
