The VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION seeks a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team. About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Recreation Therapist to work in our Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Service at the James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa, Florida. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating, establishing goals, and developing treatment interventions for our patients. You will also implement and modify treatment plans as needed throughout the course of treatment to ensure optimum outcomes.

Responsibilities

Some of your key responsibilities will include:
  1. Evaluating patients to determine their needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
  2. Establishing and achieving treatment goals with patients.
  3. Implementing and modifying treatment plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
  4. Providing education and support to patients and their families regarding treatment interventions and goals.
  5. Maintaining accurate records of patient care, including assessments, progress notes, encounters, consultations, care plans, and other reports as needed.


Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
  1. Hold a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in therapeutic recreation or recreation/leisure with an option and/or emphasis in therapeutic recreation.
  2. Be certified as a therapeutic recreation specialist (CTRS) by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
  3. Have at least one year of creditable experience at the next lower grade level (GS-7) or a master's degree in recreation therapy may be substituted for the required one year of professional recreation therapist experience.


Salary

The estimated salary for this position is $63,456 - $114,690 per year, based on location and experience.
