Position Overview:
This role involves entry-level responsibilities related to the upkeep and minor repairs of various vehicles, including buses. The selected individual will work under the guidance of a designated supervisor and will focus on vehicle maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine maintenance and refueling of buses, ensuring all fluid levels are checked and replenished, including engine oil, coolant, power steering, and transmission fluids.
- Repair and maintain tires, including making field service calls as necessary.
- Replace and repair lights, turn signals, and other components such as mirrors and fan belts.
- Assist senior mechanics with more complex repair tasks and general labor duties.
- Clean and maintain vehicles, including washing and vacuuming buses and other equipment.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and departmental policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, or a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge and skills.
- A CDL class 'B' license with a passenger transport endorsement is required within the first month of employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of safety hazards and accident prevention methods.
- Familiarity with automotive and mechanical components.
- Proficiency in routine vehicle servicing and repair.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Physical Requirements:
- The role demands physical strength and agility to perform essential functions safely, including lifting up to 100 lbs, bending, kneeling, and working at heights.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to hazardous conditions and chemicals may occur, along with high noise levels and extreme temperatures.
