Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute category strategies to meet financial goals and drive profitability across your scope of categories.
  • Collaborate with Merchandise Planning partners to analyze, forecast, and achieve category performance and plans.
  • Provide clear, trustworthy leadership by driving team growth, ensuring high-quality output, and setting measurable, achievable goals.
  • Recommend and lead merchandising strategy, develop plans to implement strategy, and oversee execution.
  • Act as an expert on current and upcoming trends for managed division, maintaining Magnolia's aesthetic, design, and vision.
  • Identify assortment and process opportunities for growth and improvement, establishing action plans to implement and maintain.
  • Effectively partner with Product Design and Sourcing to create clear concepts for teams to implement in the assortment and improve on process and communication.
  • Effectively partner with Marketing and Creative to provide direction and feedback to implement targeted sales plans.
  • Confidently present weekly, monthly, and quarterly business performance for categories to upper management.
  • Monitor and manage vendor performance to maximize sales and profitability.
  • Actively model how to react to uptrending and downtrending business, using learnings for future assortment.
  • Drive profitability by setting margin targets for team and partnering with team to achieve those targets.
  • Understand market dynamics and competitive landscape for categories and assortment, maintaining a pulse on changing customer preferences and emerging trends.
  • Identify and elevate strategic opportunities in the assortment, promotions, pricing, on-site experience, and in-store.
Requirements
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to articulate Magnolia's brand values, design, and aesthetic.
  • Experience in furniture and textiles preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree and 5-10 years of relevant experience required.
  • Proven managerial experience required.
