Nurse Supervisor

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Supervisor to join our team at the County of Atlantic. As a Nurse Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising the operations of a group of patient-care units and directing the assignment and activities of professional and nonprofessional personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the completion of all Medicare assessments (MDS) on a timely basis, including Interim Payment Assessments and quarterly assessments.
- Complete admission assessments and significant change of status MDSs appropriately and timely.
- Prepare and update Nursing Skilled Documentation and 7 Day Lookback Lists for nurses.
- Complete readmission / return assessment and discharge reporting.
- Submit all required MDSs to CMS.
- Assume responsibility for the entire house on weekends, holidays, and weekdays on a rotational basis with other SONs.
- Participate in planning, organizing, and coordinating the implementation of established policies within the units.
- Assign, evaluate, and participate in the development of proper and effective work methods.
- Analyze and evaluate nursing care and work performance and make recommendations for improvement or development.
- Participate in the planning for provision of physical facilities.
- Provide recommendations for staffing in units and participate in determining qualifications for personnel.
- Participate in developing a program of orientation and in-service training for personnel.
- Prepare and supervise the preparation of requisitions for medication, equipment, and supplies.
Requirements:
- Three (3) years of experience as a registered professional nurse, one (1) year of which shall have included the supervision of direct care nursing staff.
- Current, valid registration as a professional nurse in the State of New Jersey.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Knowledge of principles and methods of professional nursing and hospital organization.
- Knowledge of organizing assigned nursing and supervisory work and developing effective work methods.
- Knowledge of sterilization, immunization, and diagnoses.
- Knowledge of the preparation and maintenance of medical and other records.
- Knowledge of the administration of narcotics and other medications and treatments.
- Ability to interpret and apply unit policies.
- Ability to analyze, comprehend, and interpret professional nursing problems.
Working Conditions:
The Nurse Supervisor will work in a fast-paced environment and will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and computerized information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
