The Licensed Physical Therapist is tasked with conducting patient assessments, evaluations, diagnoses, prognoses, and therapeutic interventions. This role encompasses the practice of Physical Therapy for both adult and pediatric patients, adhering to the professional standards of the field.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Excellence and Patient Care

  • Conducts thorough patient/client examinations, gathering medical history, performing comprehensive system reviews, and selecting appropriate discipline- and age-specific assessments.
  • Evaluates patient/client conditions, making informed clinical decisions based on collected data.
  • Formulates patient/client diagnoses or problem lists based on observed signs and symptoms.
  • Creates patient/client prognoses, outlining expected levels of improvement and timelines for achievement.
  • Collaborates with patients and families to develop care plans with clear, measurable objectives.
  • Implements patient/client interventions, including the delegation and supervision of support staff.
  • Provides education and training to patients and their families.
  • Completes necessary documentation and communication related to patient care.
  • Develops and executes discharge plans in partnership with other healthcare professionals.
  • Works with hospital departments and community organizations to ensure coordinated care delivery.
  • Maintains a safe and organized work environment.
  • Meets departmental productivity expectations.
  • Supervises Physical Therapist Assistants and Therapy Technicians.

Program and Professional Development

  • Offers clinical supervision to students.
  • Facilitates smooth departmental operations.
  • Engages in PMR and hospital meetings.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary committees and task forces.
  • Contributes to performance improvement initiatives.
  • Assists in program development efforts.
  • Engages in hospital and departmental training sessions and community education.
  • Contributes to the education and development of colleagues.
  • Promotes awareness of rehabilitation and Physical Therapy within the hospital and community.
  • Takes responsibility for personal professional growth and development in clinical practice, regulatory, and fiscal matters.
Qualifications
  • Meets educational criteria necessary for obtaining a professional license in Physical Therapy.
  • Possesses current licensure in good standing to practice as a Physical Therapist.
  • Must have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain it within three months of hire.
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Demonstrates multicultural sensitivity.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
  • Exhibits a customer/patient-focused approach.
  • Familiarity with standard equipment used to perform essential job functions.
