Genesee & Wyoming Inc. is seeking a skilled Electrical Repair Specialist to fill a critical role in our operations.

Job Summary:

The Electrical Repair Specialist performs advanced troubleshooting and electrical repairs on all diesel-electric locomotive equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with all railroad regulations and industry standards for safety, operations, and maintenance.
  • Design, install, maintain, repair, rebuild, inspect, and test electrical equipment, including control systems, transformers, motors, generators, electric lighting fixtures, cab heaters, batteries, and their charging systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance on all electrical components to prevent downtime and ensure reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and test complex electrical systems on diesel-electric locomotives, including high and low voltage, wheel slip, transition, and electrical load or no-load conditions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve electrical issues and implement process improvements.
Requirements:
  • Two years of relevant work experience in electrical repair or a related field.
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex electrical schematics and technical documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Diesel electrician training or certification.
  • Associate's degree or higher in a related field, such as electrical engineering or technology.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various locations.
