As a key member of the surgical team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth execution of surgical procedures.
Responsibilities:
* Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies, adhering to established policies and procedures.
* Recognize and respond to emergency situations, providing assistance as directed.
* Maintain aseptic techniques by scrubbing prior to working in the sterile field.
* Prepare the operating room for procedures by setting up instruments, surgical trays, and equipment.
* Clean the operating room after procedures, removing and disposing of contaminated instruments.
* Ensure the operational readiness of instruments, equipment, and departmental supplies.
* Perform patient care functions, such as patient prepping, and operate electronic equipment as directed.
* Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, staff, and the public.
* Perform other duties as required, including transporting patients and orienting new staff.
* Promote customer service by demonstrating skills consistent with Kaiser Permanente's philosophy.
Basic Qualifications:
* 2000 hours of Operating Room scrub experience or equivalent military experience within the last three years, with competency in scrubbing for all types of surgical procedures (except open heart).
* Recent graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician or military equivalent program within the last six months.
* Basic Life Support certification.
Additional Requirements:
* This is a temporary position for approximately 6 months.
* May be filled by Surgical Tech I or Surgical Tech II.
* External hires must pass a background check/drug screen.
