Job Summary:

The Echocardiographer is responsible for performing high-quality echocardiograms, setting up and assisting with transesophageal echocardiograms, and, under the direction of a trained echocardiographer, setting up and performing exercise and dobutamine stress echocardiograms to the standards set forth by the American Society of Echocardiography and Froedtert Hospital.

This individual demonstrates increasing competency in delivering care to a primarily adult population. Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform transthoracic echocardiograms to the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Set up and assist with transesophageal echocardiograms as needed.
  • Under the direction of a trained echocardiographer, set up and perform exercise and dobutamine stress echocardiograms.
  • Deliver high-quality care to patients, demonstrating increasing competency in a primarily adult population.

Requirements:

  • Graduate or a minimum of 1 year of experience as a cardiac sonographer or echocardiographer is required.
  • Completion of a two-year Allied Health degree and successful completion of a 12-month CAAHEP approved School of Ultrasound Technology, or Cardiovascular Technology, or equivalent education.
  • RDCS or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International, or completion of RDCS/RCS requirements within 12 months of employment is required.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
