Job Summary

At Hackensack Meridian Health, we are seeking a highly skilled Sterilization Technician to join our team. As a Sterilization Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by processing and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment according to established departmental policies and procedures.
  • Operate and maintain sterilizers, including steam, ETO, Sterrad, and Steris units.
  • Conduct biological tests and Bowie Dick tests to ensure proper sterilization.
  • Record and maintain accurate sterilization records, including item processing, label usage, and chemical integrator readings.
  • Prepare case carts for delivery to the operating room, utilizing doctor's preference information to assemble required instruments, drugs, and special equipment.
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to ensure accurate instrument counts and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Adhere to the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies and maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements
  • Central Processing Course or 1 year of experience in instrument processing.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 60 lbs., and stand for extended periods.
