Position Overview
PeaceHealth is actively seeking qualified Surgical Technologists with experience in the Cardiac Operating Room for various full-time positions during daytime hours.
Currently, we are focusing on hiring only those with prior experience as Scrub Technologists.
The compensation range for this role at PeaceHealth is between $30.09 and $45.17 per hour. The specific hiring rate will be influenced by various factors, including education, training, work experience, and any applicable collective bargaining agreements.
This role is governed by a collective bargaining agreement, and there may be multiple openings available.
Incentives such as hiring bonuses and relocation assistance may be offered.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage sterile setups for surgical procedures, providing necessary instruments to the surgical team.
- Apply aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment throughout the procedure.
- Assist in the preparation and transfer of patients as needed.
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments, contributing to room turnover processes.
- Access and utilize computer systems for information retrieval, including preference lists and digital images.
- Engage in safety initiatives and adhere to quality improvement programs.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Education
- Preferred: Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent training.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a surgical technologist in a comprehensive operating room setting.
- Demonstrated understanding of age-specific care principles to address the needs of diverse patients.
Credentials
- Required: Surgical Technician certification in Washington.
- Required upon hire: Basic Life Support certification.
- Preferred: Certification as a Surgical Technologist.
Skills
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and self-motivation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Proficiency in executing detailed procedures with accuracy.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office applications.
- Understanding of operating room protocols and procedures.
Working Conditions
Lifting Requirements
- Must be able to handle patients weighing up to 35 lbs. without assistive devices.
- Fine motor skills necessary for handling medical equipment and performing precise tasks.
- Ability to navigate the work area, with occasional sitting required.
- Frequent movements including reaching, bending, squatting, and kneeling.
- Regular lifting of up to 15 lbs., with occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
- Frequent pushing/pulling forces of up to 20 lbs., with occasional forces of up to 30 lbs.
Environmental Conditions
- Exposure to biohazards, bodily fluids, and airborne particles.
- Potential exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Work performed in a medical or hospital environment.
Mental/Visual Requirements
- Vision and hearing must be within normal limits (corrective devices permitted).
- Ability to communicate effectively and exchange accurate information.
