About the Position: The Speech-Language Pathologist evaluates communication abilities, educates, instructs, and recommends strategies for effective communication. Responsibilities include conducting assessments for individuals residing at the South Mississippi Regional Center, training staff on communication disorders, and implementing alternative communication strategies. Additional duties involve performing communication evaluations, as well as hearing and vision screenings for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The role also includes observing individuals during daily activities to identify potential communication issues and developing strategies to address them.

Characteristics of Work:

This position entails planning, developing, evaluating, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring speech, language, and hearing services for both children and adults. Responsibilities include administering remedial and therapeutic services through individual or group sessions, observing patients, and providing consultation to educational and treatment staff. The Speech-Language Pathologist will also participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team to create and implement individualized treatment plans.

Minimum Qualifications:

State licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist is typically required.
