Lead Maintenance Technician

As the Lead Maintenance Technician for Effingham Hospital Inc., you will be responsible for coordinating and completing significant complex duties involving the installation, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining of the buildings and/or grounds according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site's business goals and objectives.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Lead and perform complex work related to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and troubleshooting and repair of equipment and facilities.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain an inventory of repair equipment and supplies to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Conduct regular inspections of offices and clinical areas to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel, and follow established safety protocols.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment and facilities to minimize disruption to operations.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to ensure accurate completion of tasks.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities to prevent breakdowns and extend lifespan.
  • Conduct a variety of minor and complex facility maintenance tasks to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Use hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report any unusual situations to ensure prompt resolution.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean work areas to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Train new staff members and provide mentorship to ensure knowledge transfer and continuity.
  • Perform other maintenance duties as requested to support the efficient operation of the hospital.

**Requirements:**

  • Minimum Level of Education: Equivalent to completion of high school or post-secondary certification.
  • Formal Training: General Maintenance training preferred.
  • Licensure, Certification, Registration: Motor Vehicle license required. Plumbing, Electrical, Grounds/Pesticide, and/or HVAC certification preferred. EPA certification preferred.
  • Work Experience: Significant formal training in maintenance with 10+ years of experience and 3+ years in a leadership role. Proficient in using a variety of hand tool equipment for facility repairs.
