Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist to join our team at CHRISTUS Health. As a key member of our surgical team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients, maintaining aseptic techniques and monitoring situations that could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.
  • Prepare patient skin for surgery in accordance with hospital standards and transport patients to and from the Operating Room suite.
  • Position patients according to the type of surgery and identify and care for biological specimens.
  • Prepare the Operating Room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to the type of case.
  • Work effectively as a member of the team caring for the patient, cooperating in team planning and execution, and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Demonstrate clinical expertise in the use and care of all surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment, and adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions for both patient and own safety.
  • Familiar with facility policy and procedure regarding decontamination, processing, and sterilization of all instruments and supplies that are processed within the facility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of the Surgical Technology program or an accredited LVN/LPN program required.
  • 2 or more years of experience preferred.
  • BLS required.
  • Certification of Surgical Technologist from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting within 180 days of graduation or LVN/LPN License required.
