Job Summary

This Sales Associate position is located at Great Lakes Ace Hardware, where you will be responsible for maintaining outstanding customer service, generating sales, and merchandising product. You will own assigned departments and support the store management team in achieving sales goals and providing excellent customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet all customers and assist in answering questions about merchandise and locating products.
  • Use the S.A.L.E.S. process to help customers find everything on their lists.
  • Complete all company and departmental paperwork accurately, including price change bulletins, operation actions, red tags, and bin tags.
  • Receive, open, and unpack cartons or crates of merchandise, checking paperwork against items received when required, and replenish stock when necessary.
  • Display and maintain merchandise on end caps, shelves, counters, or tables following company plan-ogram, building displays when necessary to attract customers and promote sales within specified guidelines.
  • Maintain on-hand integrity through inventory adjustment reports, including cycle count and negative on-hand.
  • Follow the nightly maintenance checklist to ensure proper store recovery and cleanliness.
  • Maintain familiarity with new products and ad merchandise.
  • Have sound awareness of surroundings, customers, etc., and practice loss prevention techniques to minimize shoplifting losses.
  • Work effectively with colleagues and customers, communicating effectively and professionally.
Requirements
  • Six months related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively with customers or associates.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Work Environment

The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with moderate noise levels. The associate may work near moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
