The Role You Will Play:

The Respiratory Therapist II is responsible for executing essential respiratory care tasks for acute or critically ill patients across neonatal, pediatric, and adult demographics. This role requires the ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. The therapist will initiate and sustain appropriate therapies, including life support techniques and equipment. They will provide preventive, supportive, and corrective interventions concerning the cardio-pulmonary system in designated patient care areas, adhering to established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and all relevant regulations and standards. Competency in all advanced clinical skills must be demonstrated and maintained. The therapist will actively engage in exceptional customer service and uphold respectful relationships with all individuals. Compliance with AdventHealth's Corporate Compliance Plan and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations is mandatory.

The Value You Bring to the Team:

§ Initiates process improvement strategies proactively. Assists in clinical training and mentoring of new staff, serving as a resource for less experienced therapists. Supports the hospital and department's mission, objectives, and performance metrics. Adheres to safety regulations and practices standard precautions consistently. Accurately documents and charges for procedures to meet quality standards established by the department and hospital.
§ Responds promptly to all Code Blue emergencies, delivering CPR in accordance with American Heart Association guidelines, and performs additional duties as assigned. Conducts airway maintenance, including the proper use of manual resuscitators, airway insertion, suctioning, extubation, and assisting with tracheostomy procedures.
§ Effectively utilizes patient assessment skills, protocols, and interdisciplinary collaboration to evaluate therapy efficacy efficiently, making necessary recommendations and adjustments per departmental protocols. Administers respiratory therapies and oxygen delivery methods, providing recommendations for the most effective delivery systems according to established guidelines.
