Position Overview
The Credit Review function is responsible for delivering an impartial evaluation of credit decisions and the efficacy of credit operations throughout the bank's credit framework. This role plays a crucial part in identifying both current and potential risks, while also communicating findings to key stakeholders, including senior management and regulatory bodies.
The Senior Examiner will engage in credit review assessments and ongoing testing activities across diverse commercial credit portfolios within the Enterprise Credit division. Collaborating with examination teams, the individual will evaluate the integrity of credit decision-making, portfolio oversight, risk identification practices, and the overall effectiveness of credit management protocols. Additionally, this role involves continuous testing of various portfolios through transaction reviews of both new and existing clients, ensuring compliance with client selection criteria, underwriting standards, and the accuracy of risk ratings to proactively detect emerging risks that may affect portfolio credit quality. The Senior Examiner will primarily focus on more intricate transactions and may also lead special projects alongside testing duties. This specific position will emphasize ongoing evaluations of Structured Financing Transactions and Counterparty Credit Risk within Global Markets portfolios, which may include Asset-Backed Securitization, Hedge Funds, Asset Managers, and Central Counterparties, among others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert guidance and insights based on extensive business and credit review experience across various business units.
- Lead project initiatives and team activities, ensuring effective execution.
- Develop Monitoring Plans for assigned credit portfolios, assessing the associated Level and Direction of Risk ratings, and act as Examiner-in-Charge (EIC).
- Implement credit review strategies to ensure sound risk-based practices by defining the scope, program, and review procedures.
- Exercise sound judgment and influence senior business leaders and peers.
- Drive the resolution of credit-related issues, helping business partners align their strategies with appropriate risk management controls.
- Contribute to the formulation, execution, and communication of Credit Review's objectives and strategies.
- Engage with regulatory agencies, external consultants, and other internal risk management teams.
- Evaluate and advise on the implications of industry trends, geopolitical factors, and economic conditions on credit portfolios.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in commercial credit, including direct lending, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven ability to support conclusions through analytical reasoning and influence senior leadership.
- Exceptional skills in credit analysis, project management, and leadership.
- Strong organizational and communication abilities, both written and verbal.
- Capacity to manage multiple complex assignments while delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Proficient in Financial Analysis, Internal Audit Review, Loan Structuring, Research Analysis, Underwriting, and Risk Management.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and issue management capabilities.
- Experience in Due Diligence and Regulatory Compliance.
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Over 10 years of direct experience in commercial credit.
- Proven track record in identifying, assessing, and reporting on existing and emerging risks.
- Relevant experience directly applicable to Credit Review responsibilities.
- Ability to mentor and coach less experienced associates.
- Strong background in Counterparty Credit Risk and/or Global Markets.
Educational Requirement:
- Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related business field is preferred.
Work Schedule:
Standard first shift hours, 40 hours per week.
