Job Title: Peer Specialist

Join our team at Advantage Behavioral Health Systems as a Peer Specialist, where you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. As a Peer Specialist, you will provide one-on-one recovery coaching, participate in treatment team planning, and facilitate group skills training and education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual recovery coaching sessions utilizing Motivational Interviewing techniques to offer individual coaching and support.
  • Comply with client confidentiality as specified by department policy.
  • Complete treatment plan reviews and updates with client, family members, significant others, and appropriate community agencies.
  • Attend treatment team meetings scheduled by other team members.
  • Provide group skills training and education sessions.
  • Monitor client progress toward treatment goals.
  • Maintain appropriate credentials and attend trainings as necessary.
  • Document all client and client-related interactions in client's electronic health record.
Qualifications:
  • Candidates must have a diagnosis of mental illness, addiction, or a dual diagnosis of mental illness and addictive disease and a strong desire to identify themselves as a person with mental illness.
  • Applicants must hold a GED or High School diploma and be at least 18 years of age.
  • Applicants must have demonstrated experience with leadership, advocacy, or governance, and be well grounded in their recovery.
