Cyber Operations Specialist Job Description
The U.S. Army is seeking highly skilled Cyber Operations Specialists to conduct integrated and synchronized offensive cyberspace operations. These specialists will target enemy and hostile adversary activities and capabilities, while also conducting defensive operations to protect data, networks, and other designated systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide crucial intelligence and network support to safeguard the cyber domain.
- Collect, analyze, and report digital data to inform cyber operations.
- Maintain network defense tools, including routers and firewalls, to prevent cyber threats.
- Evaluate network defense operations to identify areas for improvement.
- Respond to incidents in cyberspace, using surveillance and reconnaissance actions to detect and neutralize threats.
- Conduct network terrain audits, penetration testing, and basic digital forensics to identify vulnerabilities.
Training and Certification:
Cyber Operations Specialists undergo rigorous training, including 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and two phases of Advanced Individual Training (AIT). Phase one includes 25 weeks of training in Corry Station, Florida, while phase two lasts 20 weeks and takes place in Fort Gordon, Georgia. Upon completion, specialists receive industry-leading certifications, including CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, and CISSP.
