Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified Academic English Instructor to join our team at the English Language Center. As an Academic English Instructor, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality language instruction and contributing to the growth and development of our students.

About the Position

This is a fixed-term faculty position, renewable based on performance and institutional needs. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in the Intensive English Program (IEP), the English for Academic Purposes program (EAP), and/or special contract programs. Additionally, they will attend organizational meetings and meetings related to skills coordination, and proctor the Michigan State University English Language Test (MSUELT).

Responsibilities
  • Teach academic English courses to international students, focusing on their English language proficiency and academic preparation.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their language development.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and course materials.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must have a Master's degree in TESOL or a closely related field. Those with a Bachelor's degree may be considered if they have extensive ESL teaching experience and expertise working with constituents similar to those served by the ELC.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent English communicative skills, experience working with international students, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Experience teaching outside of the U.S. and knowledge of ESL in Higher Education are also desirable.

Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per annumBenefits
