Job Description

As a Primary Care Physician, you will provide prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to patients with diseases and injuries seeking treatment in the clinic, as directed by physician or mid-level provider. You will collaborate with the core PACT Team (Primary Care Provider, RN, and Medical Assistant) and expanded PACT Team including family/caregiver, VA, and community-based services involved in developing the patient care plan.

Responsibilities:
  • Actively diagnose and treat our veterans.
  • Examine patients for symptoms of organic or congenital disorders, determine nature and extent of injury/disorder, and perform comprehensive physical examinations.
  • Develop and implement patient management plans and assist in provision of continuity of care.
  • Order and perform diagnostic tests.
  • Presume medication and recommend dietary and activity programs as indicated by diagnosis.
  • Counsel patients on the use of prescription medications, educate patients, assess mental health issues, and provide routine health maintenance.
  • Evaluate patients records from medical providers outside the VA and work with these patients utilizing rules set forth by the VA for co-managed care.
  • Complete any and all clinical reminders due at the time of each patient visit.
  • Complete the documentation of the medical record within 24 hours of a patient encounter.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 4+ years of clinical medical practice; government healthcare environment preferred;
  • A Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine Degree;
  • Board certification in Family Practice or Internal Medicine;
  • Credentialed and remain in good standing through the Veterans Health Administration (VA);
  • A valid, unrestricted license in the state of desired employment or any U.S. state or territory, depending on VA contractual requirements;
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (must be renewed periodically as specified by the certifying agency AHA valid for two years, e.g.) and in ACLS as specified by individual VAMC contract;
  • Current, unrestricted DEA registration;
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English;
  • Excellent computer skills;
  • An energetic and optimistic demeanor;
  • A strong service mentality and a focus on achieving all aspects of defined service standard;
  • This is considered a safety-sensitive position.
