Position Overview

United Global Technologies is seeking a Principal ASME Mechanical Piping Engineer to support our client in Richland, Washington. This position is designed as an onsite role with a 4-day work week.

Key Responsibilities

In this capacity, you will collaborate with various departments including Operations, Maintenance, Field Engineering, and Facilities to implement or modify structures, systems, and components that align with the overarching objectives of Tank Farms.

  • Conduct code compliance calculations and execute designs adhering to ASME B31.1 and/or B31.3 standards.
  • Provide expert guidance on ASME Piping codes to different teams within Tank Farms as required.
  • Lead small, cross-functional teams to design projects that enhance Tank Farm operations, the Effluent Treatment Facility, 242-A Evaporator, and other necessary facilities.
  • Take charge of the mechanical design components of assigned projects, including the design, application, testing, and preparation of specifications for systems, materials, equipment, or components in conjunction with other engineering and scientific disciplines.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including manuals, calculations, drawings, reports, and procedures, and deliver technical presentations to engineering, operations, projects, and client organizations.
  • Conduct site visits to assess engineering challenges, propose solutions, and provide actionable recommendations.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Proficiency in ASME B31.1 and B31.3 piping system designs.
  • Experience with software design tools for pipe stress and flow calculations.
  • A Professional Engineering License.
  • Familiarity with AFT Fathom, AutoPipe, MathCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams towards a unified design objective.
  • Exceptional presentation and verbal communication skills.
  • An advanced engineering degree and/or relevant certifications.
Work Schedule

The standard work hours for this position are from 6 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday.
