Beebe Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative to join our team. As a Patient Service Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities- Interview patients or their representatives to obtain demographic and insurance information necessary for treatment, billing, contracting, and data analysis.
- Input registration information into our computer system, verify accuracy of data entered, and scan appropriate documents.
- Prepare required forms for completion, review, and/or signature by patients or their representatives, ensuring each is explained and presented in a manner understood by the patient.
- Receive and review medical documentation (including records and referrals) and assist in the appropriate processing of these documents based on your scope and job duties.
- Verify insurance eligibility, medical necessity, and whether a referral is needed for a visit using websites and computer applications.
- Facilitate patient and information flow by directing patients to the correct locations and aiding as needed.
- Responsible for answering phone calls and checking voice mail, logging, and/or returning calls based on your scope and job responsibilities.
- Assist clinical staff and providers with clerical responsibilities as needed.
- Assist in the daily workflow of the practice, including but not limited to opening procedures, chart preparation, lunch/admin time procedures, end-of-day procedures, and closing procedures.
- Understand how to utilize our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, Delaware Health Information Network (DHIN), Provider Portal, and other systems as needed.
- Understand HIPAA regulations for patients and other facilities and follow them.
- Understand how to use office equipment, including but not limited to computers, scanners, printers, phones, photocopiers, credit card processing machines, iPads, webcams, etc.
- Assist in the care and maintenance of office equipment, building, supplies, and patient rooms.
- Inform your manager by email of any work orders needed for equipment, computer-related issues, and/or maintenance issues.
- Work in other Beebe Healthcare office locations and/or other shift times as needed.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by your manager/director.
- Two years of experience in a hospital/medical office environment with familiarity of registration and insurance.
- Computer skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Ability to communicate with the public in a courteous manner.
- Ability to adapt to change in order to meet patient and organizational needs.
- Sensitivity to difficult/emotional patient situations.
- Ability to recognize cultural diversity and special needs, remain calm, and able to perform duties in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear Communication Skills (Both Written and Verbal)
- Knowledge of Basic Computer Programs
- Able to Keep Confidential Information Regarding Patients, Team Members
- Able to Withstand Crisis Situations
- Has Skills to Provide Customer Service to Patients, Team Members, and Visitors
