Position Overview

As a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) at Special Kids, you will play a vital role in delivering speech and language therapy to children from birth to age 21. Our team is committed to fostering a collaborative environment, working alongside other professionals such as occupational and physical therapists, to ensure comprehensive care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and diagnose speech and language skills, providing tailored treatment for various communication disorders and developmental delays.
  • Implement and instruct on the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices as needed.
  • Facilitate multi-sensory, educational, and social activities to help children develop essential skills.
  • Design and select activities that align with each child's physical capabilities and interests to promote independence.
  • Prepare children for school and daily living, aiding in the restoration of functions and necessary lifestyle adjustments.
  • Educate families on treatment procedures to ensure effective carryover in various settings.
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation and electronic medical records.
  • Review patient files to gather background information and determine appropriate assessments.
  • Administer evaluations, interpret results, and adjust individualized treatment plans accordingly.
  • Monitor patient progress and modify goals as needed, ensuring high productivity in patient care.
  • Collaborate with educational and medical professionals to integrate speech and language objectives into daily activities.
  • Engage in professional development activities to enhance your skills and knowledge in the field.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Master's Degree in Communication Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology.
  • An active and unencumbered Tennessee State SLP license.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic medical records.
