Position Overview:

The Clinical Nurse Specialist plays a vital role within our multidisciplinary team, delivering patient-centered care to individuals in a dual diagnosis inpatient detox and residential setting.

Responsibilities include assessing patients' physical and mental health, formulating and executing nursing care plans, and maintaining comprehensive medical documentation.


Work Schedule:
AM shift 7:00am-3:30pm

Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate medical concerns from residents and communicate findings to the appropriate healthcare providers.

- Develop treatment plans as necessary, delivering direct nursing care and health screenings as per program guidelines.

- Monitor chronic health issues, respiratory conditions, and seizure activity.
- Track and report vital signs, Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale (COWS), and Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment (CIWAS), as well as manage wound care and follow-up treatments.

- Conduct thorough physical and mental health evaluations for new admissions, including reviewing medical histories and substance use.

- Administer prescribed medications, observe for side effects, and educate patients on medication benefits and risks.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records, documenting all assessments, interventions, and changes in condition.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists, to ensure comprehensive care.
- Understand addiction recovery principles and have experience with dual diagnosis patients.

- Ensure client safety through verbal de-escalation techniques and appropriate interventions when necessary.

- Facilitate daily schedules for residents, including support with activities such as chores and group sessions.

- Supervise clients undergoing detoxification, ensuring safety and adherence to protocols.
- Conduct admissions and comply with all regulatory reporting and medical protocols.
- Ensure timely medication initiation and coordinate with pharmacy for refills.
- Maintain current knowledge of all required trainings and certifications for employment.

- May serve as the point of contact for the shift and delegate tasks as directed by the Supervisor.

- Provide transportation for residents during community outings in a safe manner.

- Facilitate communication with parents through regular updates.

- Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Must possess a current and unrestricted Registered Nurse License in the state of employment.
- Detox experience is required; experience in residential nursing is advantageous.
- Valid driver's license and eligibility for insurance coverage for driving company vehicles are necessary.
- Must pass the required background checks and pre-employment screenings.
- CPR certification is required within the first 30 days of employment.
