About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Pipeline Technician to join our team at HF Sinclair Corporation. As a key member of our Pipeline Department, you will be responsible for conducting assignments and duties under general supervision, leading the work of others as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and installations of pipeline electrical/instrumentation equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Troubleshoot and test equipment to identify and resolve issues, maintaining pipeline integrity and instrumentation systems.
  • Install and calibrate instruments and safety equipment, ensuring accurate and up-to-date calibration reports.
  • Verify the certification of test equipment, gauges, and relief valves, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Perform minor pump repairs and program SCADA controls and equipment to safely operate and maintain pipelines and terminals.
  • Balance terminal operations, performing quality control checks on products and responding to upsets and abnormal operating instances.
  • Generate reports for daily distribution, verifying compliance with DOT requirements and ensuring operations and safety procedures are followed.
  • May be responsible for dispatching to locations and training less experienced technicians.
Requirements
  • A minimum of five years of job-related experience is required.
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • PREFERRED EDUCATION: A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the pipeline industry or related industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams/schematics, perform basic mathematical calculations, and effectively communicate with others.
  • PREFERRED SKILLS: Familiarity with programmable logic controller (PLC), DOT safety rules and regulations, and special training in Instrumentation and the SCADA system.
Work Environment

The successful candidate will work in an office and field-based environment, with up to 10% travel required. The role will involve working in petroleum refinery, warehouse, and plant environments, as well as outdoors, with exposure to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, and electrical shock.

Physical Requirements

The job requires standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping, lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 50lbs, climbing up to 48 ft, perceiving color differences, and wearing personal protective equipment as needed.
