University of Utah Health is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team on a PRN basis. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound exams to aid radiologists and providers in their diagnosis and/or treatment of patients.
Responsibilities- Perform diagnostic ultrasound exams based on physician's orders and patient history.
- Verify and enter/select patient demographics.
- Provide accurate and consistent patient education and explanation of exam.
- Perform ultrasound examinations, tailoring exams based upon findings and most likely diagnosis.
- Update patient logs and submit billing.
- Ensure operation of equipment and coordinate necessary maintenance.
- Assist with training of student sonographers, residents, and fellows.
- Assist physicians with invasive procedures.
- Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system.
- One of the following certifications: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with an Abdomen specialty (RDMS-AB), Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with an OB/GYN specialty (OB/GYN), or ARRT Registration for Sonography (S).
This position involves intensive work that may exert up to 100 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects, such as medical equipment, or patients while providing medical care.
