About the Job

Detroit Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Emergency Department Specialist. This position plays a critical role in ensuring seamless communication between hospital sites and external agencies, with a focus on expediting patient transfers and coordinating responses to emergencies.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and activate STEMI process, stroke team notification, major communicable disease response team, chempack team, decontamination team, and all communications from outside agencies regarding acts of bio-terrorism/decontamination/code yellow;
  • Handle operations of all communication equipment utilized to receive notification of critical patient transports, disasters, or mass casualty events by responding to HEAR radio, Region 2 South 800 MHz HEMS radio, life-net RS 12 lead receiving stations, care point receiving monitor, UHF receiving station, telemetry, EM TRAX, EMResource;
  • Maintain appropriate log sheets and data;
  • Attend monthly trauma systems meetings;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School graduation or equivalent;
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification;
  • State of Michigan license for Emergency Medical Technician;
  • One or two years experience as EMT, preferred;
  • Dispatch certification recommended but not required.
