Job Summary

The Anesthesia Technician plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care by providing essential support to the anesthesia clinician during surgical procedures. This includes preparing and maintaining equipment, supplies, and patient monitoring systems to ensure a safe and optimal patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and organize equipment and supplies for scheduled and emergent cases in anesthetizing locations.
  • Review present and future surgical schedules to ensure anesthesia staff have the necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Transport and set up equipment needed for procedures, including laryngoscope blades, monitors, and oxygen tanks.
  • Follow department procedures for proper procurement and handling of non-controlled medications and I.V. fluids.
  • Perform thorough room turnover between procedures, including cleaning and disinfection, restocking of anesthesia supplies, and cleaning/storing of anesthesia equipment.
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot minor malfunctions of anesthesia equipment.
  • Respond promptly to on-call situations as scheduled.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience as an Anesthesia Technician required.
  • Certification by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills required.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, and lifting of 25 lbs.
