Job Overview

We are currently looking for an Oncology RN to fill 13-week assignments. Opportunities for extension are available.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate from an accredited Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate Nursing Program.

Licensure: Must possess a current and unrestricted nursing license in the state of practice; OCN and ONS chemotherapy certifications are required.

Experience: A minimum of two years of experience as a certified chemotherapy nurse is essential. Candidates must be capable and willing to administer chemotherapy to oncology patients.

Certifications: Current CPR certification at the BLS/ACLS level; PALS may be necessary for some clients working with pediatric patients; health screenings as mandated by specific facilities and/or regulatory bodies; OCN and ONS chemotherapy certifications. Covid-19 and current flu vaccinations are also required.

Work Environment

Work may occur in various client facility settings, with potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other infectious materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to ATC policies and procedures.
  • Follow nursing policies and procedures of client facilities.
  • Document services provided accurately and thoroughly.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Effectively communicate necessary information to relevant personnel.
  • Deliver required care while ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Provide patient services in a respectful and culturally sensitive manner, preserving autonomy and dignity.
  • Advocate for patient rights concerning advance directives.
  • Conduct continuous nursing assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Administer chemotherapy as prescribed by the physician.
  • Administer immunotherapy, blood, and blood products as needed.
  • Assist in managing symptoms effectively.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources for patient care.
  • Perform phlebotomy techniques as required.
  • Access various chemotherapy ports and lines competently.
  • Initiate CPR in an age-appropriate manner according to facility protocols and applicable advance directives.
  • Maintain professional competency through ongoing education and meet state-specific requirements.
  • Comply with ethical standards and professional nursing practices as outlined by the American Nurses Association or equivalent organization.
