Finance Director

The City of Edmonds is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Director to lead the Finance Department in achieving its mission of providing excellent financial services to the community. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and managing all activities of the Finance Department, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, and providing technical expertise to the Mayor and City Council.

• Direct and manage the Finance Department's operations, ensuring effective and efficient programs and services.
• Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and programs, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to the Mayor, City Council, and other departments on financial matters.
• Manage the City's financial systems, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting.
• Develop and implement financial plans and strategies to achieve the City's goals and objectives.
• Supervise and manage a team of financial professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of tasks and projects.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Seven years of professional-level experience in governmental accounting operations, programs, and services, including four years of staff supervisory and budgetary responsibility.
• Valid WA State driver's license and a five-year driving abstract acceptable to the City's insurance requirements.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or Certified Professional Finance Officer (CPFO) preferred.

The Finance Director will work in an office environment with constant interruptions. The position requires sitting or remaining stationary for extended periods, operating a computer keyboard or other office equipment, reading and understanding a variety of materials, and communicating effectively with others.
