Position Summary
Key Responsibilities:
- Successfully complete all necessary orientation training as mandated by the community and state regulations before commencing regular duties.
- Administer unit dose medications, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely notifications to nursing staff regarding self-administered medications in accordance with state laws and community policies.
- Manage the ordering and receipt of medications following state regulations and company protocols.
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as toileting, dressing, bathing, eating, and mobility, as outlined in their service plans.
- Observe and report any changes in residents' needs, preferences, or health status to the RN or designated personnel immediately.
- Support residents with their clothing and laundry requirements as per their service plans.
- Facilitate or supervise residents during activity programs.
- Aid residents in their nighttime routines when necessary.
- Help residents maintain a tidy and organized living space.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and address residents' needs efficiently.
- Participate in ongoing in-service training programs as scheduled by the community. Engage in specialized training and mandatory education as required by state regulations upon request from the Resident Care Director.
- Assist residents in attending meals and activities as needed.
- Document all provided services, including incidents and unusual events, in the community's tracking system.
- Conduct and facilitate engaging programming, including therapeutic groups and individual interactions that promote cognitive stimulation, socialization, physical activity, and spiritual connection.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proficient in using computers for service documentation and fluent in English communication, both written and verbal. Demonstrates computer literacy and familiarity with office software.
- Education: Completion of the state-required training course for medication administration, CPR, and First Aid.
- Experience: Prior experience in direct care or equivalent training is preferred, especially with seniors suffering from Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia.
- Certifications: Current certification/license as a Medication Aide or LMNA, with ongoing maintenance of required credentials.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to handle and manipulate medical instruments and equipment, with visual and auditory acuity. Must be capable of lifting at least fifteen (15) lbs., pushing or pulling carts, and maintaining mobility throughout the community. Good body mechanics are essential, along with the stamina to visit residents regularly. May involve occasional exposure to blood or hazardous materials.
