About the Role:
As an Occupational Therapist at El Paso Rehabilitation Hospital, you will play a vital role in the interdisciplinary team caring for patients in need of continued care to recover completely. Our hospital is a state-of-the-art, 36-bed inpatient acute rehabilitation hospital owned and operated exclusively by Lifepoint Rehabilitation.
Responsibilities:
- Assume responsibility and accountability for the care of patients being treated by Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants, rehabilitation technicians, and occupational therapy students.
- Assess patients' needs, identify and initiate appropriate occupational therapy interventions, and work cooperatively with other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional occupational therapy practice and interdisciplinary teamwork.
- Observe and evaluate treatment affect, accomplishment of short and long-term goals, and recommend changes to physicians as needed.
- Perform an appropriate assessment on each patient and perform reassessments as per policy, and perform accurate and timely QI scoring.
- Able to assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function or participation in rehabilitation, make appropriate interventions to reduce pain, and make appropriate physician contact for intervention.
- Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors.
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state where the hospital is located.
- Previous experience in all aspects of occupational therapy preferred, but not required.
- Effective oral and written communication skills in English, with additional languages preferred.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
