Position Overview

Daily Responsibilities

As an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, you will apply your professional nursing expertise to deliver and oversee patient care through the nursing process.

Electronic Medical Record System: EPIC

Overtime/Holiday Rate: 1.25x

Normal Business Operations: 8-hour shifts

  • Travelers will be expected to rotate between facilities.
Unit Information

Unit Capacity:

  • Iowa Lutheran Hospital: 12 BEDS
  • Iowa Methodist Medical Center: 23 BEDS (currently capped)

Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:

  • IMMC Day: 4.5, Evening: 4.5, Night: 7.6 (Maximum Day Ratio: 6, Night Ratio: 9)
  • ILH Day/Night: 6
Patient Demographics

The clinician will manage care for patients in acute rehabilitation, which may include:

  • Spinal cord injuries
  • Brain injuries
  • Oncology cases
  • Limb loss
  • Trauma/orthopedic issues
  • General debilitation

Preferred Background: Nurses with experience in Acute Rehabilitation or Medical-Surgical settings are most effective with this patient demographic.

Candidate Requirements
  • Ideal candidates should possess experience in Acute Rehabilitation and/or Medical-Surgical nursing within a hospital environment.
  • Ability to independently manage a diverse patient population (neuro, ortho, trauma, oncology, etc.) is essential.
  • Clients prefer that clinicians do not take more than 7 days off during a 13-week contract.
  • Minimum of 1 year of travel nursing experience, multiple travel contracts completed, or 4+ years of full-time employment at a single facility is required.

Weekend and On-Call Requirements

Weekend shifts are required every other or every third week, including holiday rotations. No on-call duties are necessary.
