About the Job

Aureus Medical Group - Cardiopulmonary is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join their team as a travel professional in a Cardiopulmonary setting.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport services as medically prescribed.
  • Evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, explaining treatment purposes and procedures, and providing necessary education upon discharge.
  • Operate various ventilatory equipment, administering prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation to patients.
  • Perform chest physiotherapy, promoting secretion clearance using various equipment.
  • Conduct suctioning procedures, including oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal suctioning.
  • Monitor patients' oxygen saturation and carbon dioxide levels, performing oximetry and capnography as needed.
  • Review patients' chest x-rays to determine the need for further evaluation.
  • Perform 12-Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition, assisting with procedures related to respiratory care.
  • Assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomy, and chest tube placement.
  • Perform tracheostomy care, including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes.
  • Perform arterial puncture, determining the efficiency of ventilation and monitoring, recording, and reporting test results.
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
  • Insert and remove endotracheal tubes using the free-hand technique and/or video laryngoscope system.
  • Set up, test, and operate mechanical ventilation equipment, maintaining and monitoring various types of ventilators.
  • Assist in facilitating preventative maintenance and repair of equipment as needed.
  • Record all pertinent information on respiratory care records and patient charts, including pre- and post-assessment.
  • Communicate with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding patient therapy and treatment plans.
  • Report necessary information during walking rounds for shift-to-shift communication.
  • Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging, including data entry, verification, and correction of errors.
Requirements
  • CPR/BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • State License-Respiratory Therapist-Ohio
  • NBRC-RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • Ability to lift 50-100 pounds
