We are seeking a qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach Political Science courses at Motlow State Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction, facilitating student learning, and performing evaluations of student learning.
Responsibilities- Teach courses in Political Science as assigned, including dual enrollment classes at area high schools.
- Collaborate with faculty, department lead, and curriculum chair on curricular and programmatic issues.
- Work with faculty, administration, and staff to support students, strategic plans, goals, and business operations.
- Stay current with developments in the teaching discipline, including scholarship, research, and teaching approaches.
- Teach up to 12 credit hours per semester as assigned.
- Maintain availability for meetings with students and colleagues.
- Respond promptly to requests from the Dean.
- Submit all requested paperwork timely and completely.
- Perform duties in accordance with TBR and MSCC policies.
- Attend Adjunct Orientation.
- Master's degree in Political Science or a qualifying field from a regionally accredited college or university.
- 18 graduate semester hours in Political Science or a qualifying field from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Preferred qualifications include a doctoral degree in Political Science or a qualifying field, or a Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Political Science or a qualifying field.
- Three years of community college teaching experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals.
- Strong computer skills, including college database management, word processing, creating spreadsheets, email, and the internet.
- Knowledge of confidentiality statutes and policies as they apply to FERPA.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with students, fellow employees, college administrators, and other stakeholders.
