Job Summary

The U.S. Department of the Interior is seeking a highly skilled Architectural Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for assisting with the identification, research, planning, treatment, and preservation maintenance of historic structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify and document historic structures
  • Develop and maintain liaisons with related groups and individuals, agencies, and the public to encourage and facilitate cooperative regional management strategies
  • Conduct and coordinate segments of historic structure research projects related to the identification, documentation, analysis, and evaluation, and treatment
  • Maintain lists of classified structures documenting the location, historical development, condition, and management of historic structures in the park
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication
  • Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males
  • Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to wear a uniform and comply with National Park Service uniform standards
  • One-year trial period required
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the Basic Education Requirements and must meet at least one of the following Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree in architecture or related field that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines
  • Combination of education and experience that furnished a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service
  • A master's or equivalent graduate degree OR two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field of study that is directly related to the work of the position
Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking.
