Job Title: Radiology Technologist

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a Radiology Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of a licensed radiologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic radiological exams, verifying patient identity, and reviewing patient medical records for appropriateness of exam or procedure. You will also be required to interview patients to obtain, verify, or update medical history and assess risk factors such as medications, pregnancy, and/or psychological indicators.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostic radiological exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment.
  • Verify patient identity and review patient medical records for appropriateness of exam or procedure.
  • Interview patients to obtain, verify, or update medical history and assess risk factors.
  • Explain procedures to patients, including side effects of pharmaceuticals administered, risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up.
  • Set up equipment and acquire appropriate images as per script.
  • Review images, make initial observations, document exceptions from established protocols, and communicate data to radiologists.
  • Recognize and respond to medical emergencies as appropriate.
  • Provide physician-prescribed post-care instructions to patients.
  • Participate in process improvement activities within radiology practice, including quality of care, patient flow, reject-repeat analysis, and patient satisfaction.
  • Provide imaging education to residents, student technologists, and new employees.
  • Able to take call/standby as required by the department.
Qualifications:
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography (R).
  • Required to have or successfully complete American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BLS) training by end of orientation period.
