Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiologic Technologist I to join our team at Unavailable. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for operating diagnostic equipment, performing complete diagnostic imaging tests, and maintaining patient safety.

Responsibilities
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and perform complete diagnostic imaging tests under the direction of the Medical Director.
  • Prepare equipment to ensure it is operational, safe, and functioning according to diagnostic standards.
  • Perform periodic QA and ensure requisite documentation.
  • Problem solve equipment failure and contact Lead Technologist regarding equipment problems.
  • Ensure daily equipment and room maintenance are performed before, during, and after each procedure.
  • Complete all quality checks and ensure that equipment logs are maintained.
  • Complete all clinical supply inventories and ensure each diagnostic room is complete with necessary supplies.
  • Actively participate in patient testing, performing urgent, emergent patient requests, routine, and non-routine requests, and OR procedures requiring radiographic support.
  • Demonstrate competency in the PACS process and perform daily PACS QA process and requirements.
  • Communicate with Nursing, Physicians, Patient Care Assistants, Laboratory staff, administrative staff, other diagnostic areas, and departments to ensure patients receive diagnostic procedures in a smooth, efficient, and safe manner.
  • Perform portable examinations when applicable at the bedside to ensure patient safety and provide immediate diagnostic testing when needed.
  • Assist with patient scheduling when required and liaise with other departments as needed.
  • Ensure patient orientation, patient preparation, and patient teaching are provided prior, during, and following test completion.
  • Review physician orders to verify the type of diagnostic exam requested and that the indication for the procedure is consistent.
  • Complete exams in RIS system for accurate billing and communicate when corrections are needed.
  • Provide specific diagnostic test information to the patient, ensuring they are aware of the test involvement.
  • Obtain necessary written consent and understanding for any specific procedures.
  • Obtain and document patient history according to specific departmental procedural protocols.
  • Complete the diagnostic examination according to specific departmental procedural protocols.
  • Obtain assistance with any diagnostic procedures that are not completed or if there are any patient care issues.
  • Responsible for monitoring and recording radiation dose levels.
  • Support department-based goals and contribute to the success of the organization; serve as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Rotate weekend/call responsibilities in a professional and accountable fashion if applicable.
  • Provide the requesting physician with preliminary findings based on diagnostic criteria established for procedure.
  • Maintain proficiency in ancillary areas of department, i.e., radiology, front desk, patient transport, and provide support when needed.
  • Perform duties in accordance with hospital policies and procedures and regulatory agency guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed as Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) with Texas Medical Board (TMB) & Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – ARRT (R).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (through an approved AHA program).
