Position Overview:
As a key contributor in the field of wireless communications, you will engage in the modeling, simulation, and design of the physical layer modem for a low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite communication network. This role is essential for ensuring effective and reliable data transmission within advanced satellite communication frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Modeling and Simulation: Develop and implement comprehensive mathematical models for physical layer communication systems tailored for LEO satellite networks. Utilize simulation tools to assess and enhance the performance of these systems under diverse conditions.
- Design and Development: Architect and develop algorithms for physical layer modems, encompassing modulation, coding, synchronization, and channel estimation. Create prototypes and conduct laboratory tests to validate modem performance.
- Performance Analysis: Execute thorough performance evaluations of the communication systems, including link budget assessments, throughput analysis, latency measurements, and error rate calculations. Identify and address performance challenges to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of design processes, simulation outcomes, and performance assessments. Prepare technical documentation and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including system architects, hardware engineers, and software developers, providing technical support during system integration and field trials.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. A robust understanding of communication theory, digital signal processing, and wireless communication systems is essential. Proficiency in modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB or Simulink is required, alongside experience in designing physical layer modems.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of 3GPP standards, particularly 5GNR, and familiarity with modern coding techniques such as LDPC and Turbo Codes will be advantageous. Experience with hardware implementation and testing of communication systems, as well as strong programming skills in languages like C/C++, Python, or VHDL/Verilog, is also desirable.
