Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center. As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities
  • Assist physical therapists in providing services that help improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease.
  • Administer therapeutic exercises and physical therapy modalities according to the physical therapy plan of care.
  • Instruct, motivate, and assist patients to learn and improve functional activity, such as pre-ambulation, transfer, ambulation, and daily living activities.
  • Observe patients during treatments, assess, and compile data on patients' responses to treatments and progress, and report verbally or in writing to the physical therapist.
  • Fit patients for, adjust, and train patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.
  • May perform clerical duties.
  • Promote and support positive and professional customer service while interacting with clients, guests, and hospital personnel.
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team, other departments, and disciplines to assure patients' and customers' needs are met in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree from an approved program for Physical Therapist Assistants.
  • Current Texas State Licensure (PTA).
  • Basic Life Support BLS/CPR certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
