Position Overview: Provide hands-on mechanical engineering assistance for manufacturing equipment and processes within the Custom Ball and Packaging Center facilities. Engage in engineering projects aimed at enhancing efficiency, safety, quality, reliability, or supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This pivotal engineering role collaborates directly with all operational departments, including Production, Maintenance, Quality, Safety, Inventory Control, and IT.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver hands-on mechanical support for machinery and systems across all aspects of Custom manufacturing and Packaging Center facilities. Troubleshoot both new and existing equipment.
  • Contribute to the mechanical design of production machinery and the integration of multiple machines into automated manufacturing cells. Provide design, installation, maintenance, and safety documentation for new machinery and systems. Collaborate with external resources to facilitate the implementation of engineering projects.
  • Maintain mechanical systems. Assess new and existing equipment to identify opportunities for reducing risk exposure based on hardware availability. Contribute to contingency plans for high-risk areas. Recommend spare parts and replacement components.
  • Assist the manufacturing engineering team in continuous improvement initiatives and the installation and startup of new and enhanced equipment and processes as assigned.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline is required.
  • Experience in a technical engineering role within a hands-on environment. Familiarity with Machine/Mechanical design, troubleshooting, fabrication, machine shop practices, CNC, 3D printing, materials selection, wiring, and electrical concepts. Understanding of PLC programming (including schematics, logic, and I/O).
  • Ability to thrive in a manufacturing environment, including regular interaction with equipment. Travel between local facilities, vendors, and training sites is expected. Must be able to spend extended periods in the manufacturing environment, subject to normal exposures to dust, heat, chemicals, and noise.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly. Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
