Santa Clara, California, United States Palo Alto Networks Full time
Job Overview

Your Career Journey

Utilize your expertise in backend Java cloud engineering to contribute to cutting-edge cloud software and web applications. Join us in deploying and scaling the next generation of cloud security, leveraging big data and analytics.

We are seeking a Principal Engineer to be part of the team dedicated to developing our latest cloud security offering - Data Loss Prevention (DLP).

Our DLP solution is recognized as the first cloud-based Enterprise DLP that consistently safeguards sensitive information across all networks, cloud environments, and users.

This rapidly expanding cloud service is designed to avert data breaches by reliably identifying sensitive data throughout the enterprise. It also ensures that your data security strategy complies with regulations and data privacy standards.

This position presents an exceptional opportunity to create microservices capable of efficiently processing terabytes of data across various cloud platforms.

Your Contributions

- Implement the software development strategy to enhance our dynamic, highly distributed system.
- Grasp and apply software development and engineering lifecycle principles to drive features from initial concept to final delivery.
- Collaborate closely with product management, architects, and dev-ops to ensure quality releases.
- Work alongside customer support, documentation, and downstream teams to facilitate customer success.
- Make informed trade-offs to optimize time-to-release while maintaining performance and scalability standards.
- Clearly communicate objectives and desired outcomes to internal project teams.
- Mentor and coach new team members.

Qualifications:
Your Experience

- BS/MS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience, including military experience.
- Self-motivated with the ability to learn independently and adapt swiftly.
- Advanced experience as a hands-on Core Java Software Engineer in a distributed/cloud-based environment.
- Strong familiarity with the Spring framework, REST APIs, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Cloud proficiency (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
- Extensive knowledge of microservices, distributed processing systems, and performance optimization.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and a commitment to automation testing for improved code coverage.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, quality assurance, and execution.

The Team

To remain at the forefront of innovation, it is essential to understand the evolving landscape of cybersecurity threats and the products and services that address them proactively.

Our engineering team is central to our mission of preventing cyberattacks. They are continually innovating and challenging conventional thinking about cybersecurity. These engineers are not hesitant to develop solutions for problems that have yet to be addressed, actively shaping the industry rather than merely following trends.

We seek individuals who thrive in uncertain environments, are motivated by challenges, and are empowered by the risks associated with our digital lives, which can only be mitigated through a secure digital infrastructure.

Our engineering team enjoys a unique opportunity to create the products and practices that will drive our company's growth over the next decade, shaping the cybersecurity landscape as we know it.

If you recognize the transformative potential of exceptional products in a business context, this is the team for you.

If you are proactive in identifying new features and opportunities for improvement, this could be your next career move.

Our Commitment

We are pioneers who dream big, take calculated risks, and challenge the status quo in cybersecurity.

It's straightforward:
We cannot fulfill our mission without diverse teams collaborating and innovating together.

Palo Alto Networks is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity in our workplace, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to legally protected characteristics. All information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.

The compensation for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location.
