The role involves assisting physicians in patient care and providing necessary information to patients to maximize their use of clinic services. Responsibilities include a variety of clinical tasks such as monitoring patient flow, obtaining and documenting vital signs, recording current medications and chief complaints, performing technical laboratory functions like phlebotomy, EKG, and stress testing, managing medical equipment, and scheduling procedures and tests. Additionally, office duties include greeting patients and visitors, operating the switchboard, collecting accurate insurance information, verifying coverage, obtaining pre-certifications, maintaining accurate billing records, and notifying patients about account statuses.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program with current licensure in Ohio, or a high school diploma with Medical Assistant certification.
- Preferred experience in a medical office or urgent care setting.
- Ability to perform as a Medical Scribe when necessary.
- Current CPR certification.
- Proficiency in personal computer use, strong typing skills, and familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to build effective relationships with medical and administrative staff, patients, and the public.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with various stakeholders.
- Able to prepare and present reports to management as required.
- Ability to remain calm in urgent situations and demonstrate initiative, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- Skills in point-of-care testing, vital signs assessment, EKG, and other clinical office functions.
- Possession of a valid Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and insurability under Firelands auto policy, with proof of personal automobile liability insurance upon request.
