Quality Assurance Specialists are integral members of the delivery team, tasked with validating both functional and non-functional requirements established by the team. They are responsible for breaking down the functional and technical specifications provided by Product Owners and Systems Analysts into actionable test scripts.
Quality Assurance Specialists identify defects as they arise and assist in the resolution process with the teams.

ROLE

  • Develops the testing strategy and methodology to validate new or enhanced functionalities delivered by teams.
  • Works collaboratively with team members to translate functional and non-functional requirements into test scripts and scenarios.
  • Identifies test dependencies, including QA test environments, QA tools, training, build and deployment plans, intra-team dependencies, and communication processes.
  • Creates and executes both manual and automated test scripts to ensure acceptance criteria defined within epics and user stories are met.
  • Develops manual test cases for all functional and non-functional requirements and collaborates with development team members to pinpoint candidates for test case automation.
  • Recognizes risks that may affect the timely delivery of products and collaborates with team members to devise mitigation strategies.
  • Executes smoke, functional, integration, and non-functional test scripts as part of the product/application delivery lifecycle.
  • Collaborates with team members to analyze the root cause of failed manual or automated test scripts.
  • Generates defect reports with comprehensive details related to the failed test case/scenario, including supporting documentation (screenshots, environment details, log files, etc.).
  • Works with team members to identify existing manual and automated test scripts that may be affected by the development of new features and capabilities.
  • Provides feedback to team members regarding the quality of sprint deliverables during retrospectives.
  • Oversees the resolution of defects identified throughout the development lifecycle and prepares quality reports for stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with product team members (e.g., Product Owners, System Analysts) to establish the automation testing strategy for specific products/applications.
  • Develops testing protocols and standards to enhance end-to-end testing outcomes and shares best practices with the center of excellence (CoE) and other Quality Assurance Specialists.
  • Creates test data to facilitate the execution of functional and non-functional testing activities and develops automated test scripts to increase team efficiency by reducing manual testing efforts.
  • Maintains the automated testing suite and associated framework for specific products.
  • Collaborates with team members (e.g., DevOps Engineers, Systems Architects) to integrate new automated test scripts into the continuous integration pipeline.
  • Shares test automation practices with engineers to encourage 'shift left' testing disciplines and practices (incorporating testing earlier in development) within the team.
REQUIRED

  • 5-7 years of current and demonstrable experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) in API/UI.
  • 1-5 years of automation and testing experience with XML and web-based SOAP/RESTful services.
  • 1-5 years of current design and development experience in Java or C#.
  • At least 2 years of development experience in any scripting language.
  • At least 2 years of experience with Microsoft SQL and/or Transact-SQL.
  • At least 2 years of experience with back-end testing, including writing SQL queries and testing Stored Procedures.
  • Proficient in Agile testing methodologies and best practices in an SDET role.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, reporting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a close-knit team environment.
  • Strong background in Computer Science and engineering skills or equivalent experience.

Recommended

  • Appreciation for Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) and DevOps.
  • Experience with Maven, Git, JDBC, Splunk.
  • Familiarity with Service-Oriented/Microservices Architectures.
  • Working knowledge of the following: Apache, TFS, IntelliJ, Maven, Git, Junit, Jenkins, Splunk, SOAPUI, and SauceLabs.
  • Experience in Unit Testing frameworks like Junit/TestNG.
  • Experience with UI automation tools, particularly Selenium Web Driver.
  • Testing and automation experience with the Microsoft VSTS technology stack, including TFS, MTM, and Lab Center.
  • Knowledge of Tomcat/Apache.
  • Familiarity with the travel industry.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
