We are seeking a highly skilled Stock Buyer to join our team at Edward Don & Company. As a Stock Buyer, you will be responsible for purchasing and replenishing designated stock items, maintaining adequate inventory levels, and providing timely and quality inventory to maximize customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Achieve planned inventory levels, service levels, and inventory turns
- Hold vendors accountable for improving turns and service level results
- Purchase stock judiciously while utilizing available technology and information to maintain adequate item stock levels and support daily sales and promotions
- Keep the Purchasing Manager informed verbally and in writing of activities and problems within assigned area of responsibility
- Maintain the integrity of purchasing variables within SAP
- Expedites open orders to maintain in-stock position and service levels
- Reviews overdue POs and updates SAP due dates to reflect the most accurate estimated date of arrival
- Resolves PO Receipt discrepancies with vendors and DC associates as needed
- Finds alternate sources or substitutes items to avoid long out-of-stock periods
- Identifies slow moving, overstock, and discontinued items and reacts on a timely basis to reduce company ownership through sales accountability, transfers, and returns to vendors
- Works with vendors to review new and existing items, returns requests, delivery, packaging compliance problems, and merchandising priorities
- Resolves shipping, receiving, stocking, and pricing problems with Accounting and Distribution
- Communicates with Sales regarding item status, pricing, and quality issues
- Assists in training of new associates as needed
- High School diploma or GED equivalent with 3 years of related working experience in a Purchasing or Production Control environment
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products (specifically Excel and Word)
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Able to analyze data and identify root causes
- Capable of working both independently and as part of a team to provide superior customer satisfaction to both internal and external customers
- Must be detailed-oriented and well-organized
- Able to adhere to Edward Don & Company's Standards of Conduct policy
- Previous SAP experience/exposure highly preferred
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with a major in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field with 1-3 years of related experience in supply chain operations (specifically replenishment and/or purchasing)
