Join the City of Aspen Police Department as a Police Officer and be part of a team that serves the unique mountain town and community of Aspen, Colorado. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining public safety, enforcing laws, and providing excellent customer service to the community.
Key Responsibilities:- Attend and participate in a variety of Law Enforcement and Public Safety training necessary to attain a Police Officer I or II position to include Colorado Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification.
- Respond to emergency calls and provide assistance to the public.
- Enforce laws and regulations, and issue citations and warnings as necessary.
- Provide excellent customer service to the community and maintain a positive relationship with the public.
- Work collaboratively with other law enforcement agencies and community organizations to achieve common goals.
- Associate degree in a relevant field (or combined other experience), such as criminal justice.
- One year of experience in Customer Service.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must possess a valid Colorado driver's license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of start date.
- Must complete FEMA ICS 100 and 200 within Police Officer Training period.
- Colorado POST Certification.
The Police Officer will work in a variety of settings, including the police station, patrol vehicles, and on foot in the community. The officer will be required to work a regular full-time schedule, with evening and weekend hours as needed. The officer may be required to work overtime to complete training requirements and to respond to emergency calls at any time.
Physical Demands:The Police Officer will be required to perform physical tasks, including lifting and carrying equipment, running, and engaging in physical activity. The officer must be able to wear APD issue equipment belt and/or vest carrier during assigned shifts. The officer must also be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures and adverse weather conditions.
