Position Overview

Agency Clarification

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver specialized financial advice and guidance to Agency management and staff regarding financial management and accounting policies.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of accounting and financial records pertaining to agency programs.
  • Advise on the effective and efficient management of all financial operations and accounting activities within the Agency.
Employment Conditions

  • Must be a current SBA career or career-conditional competitive service employee.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation is mandatory.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
Qualifications

To qualify for GS-13, candidates must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in federal service, which includes:
  1. Experience in federal accounting and reporting for loan and guaranty programs.
  2. Knowledge of federal accounting standards such as the United States Standard General Ledger (USSGL) and compliance with Office of Management and Budget (OMB) guidelines.
Educational Requirements

Applicants must submit transcripts demonstrating completion of a four-year degree in accounting or a related field with a minimum of 24 semester hours in accounting courses. Alternatively, a combination of education and experience totaling at least four years in accounting may be considered.
