Position Overview:

The Electrical Assembly Technician will be part of the Control Department, focusing on the assembly and wiring of diverse control systems for control panels and mechanical setups featuring intricate circuits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute wiring and assembly tasks according to specified guidelines.
  • Plan and organize work with flexibility to adapt to variations in standard procedures.
  • Install various types of controls and apparatus as required.
  • Cut, shape, and connect wiring while adhering to specifications to ensure optimal craftsmanship.
  • Conduct testing of components intended for application.
  • Assist in or perform testing operations on units and finished assemblies.
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, specifications, and job layouts; utilize a range of electrical testing and measurement devices.

Job Duties:

  • Layout, fabrication, and assembly of components.
  • Procure specialty materials necessary for assembly tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workshop and equipment.
  • Test completed products to ensure functionality.
  • Perform electrical wiring and related tasks.
  • Forklift operation experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience in welding, piping, and other mechanical tasks is advantageous but not essential.

Accountabilities:

  • Ensure accurate and complete assemblies in line with job design specifications.
  • Maintain quality control by ensuring all assemblies meet company standards before shipment.
  • Confirm that all necessary documentation accompanies shipments.
  • Foster a safe working environment.
  • Update assembly drawings before dispatch.
  • Document all shop labor hours accurately, including start times, breaks, and overtime.
  • Complete assemblies within the timeframes established by the Production Manager.
  • Keep precise records of hours spent on work orders.
  • Engage in job meetings prior to production commencement.

Reporting Structure:

The Electrical Assembly Technician will report to the Control Department Manager and the Production Manager, addressing issues related to production, staffing needs, and discrepancies in hours worked versus estimated hours.

Performance Standards:

  • Deliver work with zero defects.
  • Complete orders promptly and within budgeted hours.
  • Minimize rework due to shop errors.
  • Maintain a high level of efficiency in all tasks.

Position Objectives:

The primary goals of this position include:
  • Producing high-quality control panel assemblies.
  • Ensuring efficient job production.
  • Delivering superior workmanship to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Creating a friendly, safe, and productive work environment.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
  • Reducing production costs by optimizing manufacturing effectiveness.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in electrical principles and basic design.
  • Experience in production scheduling and planning.
  • The ability to verify the functionality of final assemblies according to customer requirements.
  • Knowledge of proper operation of all shop tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • A willingness to assist in non-electrical assembly tasks as needed.
  • A valid driver's license for operating company vehicles.

Technical Skills:

Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (especially Word, Internet Explorer, and Excel) is required. The candidate should also be able to download production images from a digital camera to the company server.

Physical Requirements:

The role involves:
  • Regularly standing and using hands to manipulate tools and objects.
  • Walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, and performing various physical activities.
  • Lifting and moving items weighing up to 30 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds frequently.
  • Close vision, ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision are essential.

Work Environment:

The work environment may include occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level is typically moderate, and reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
